PITTSBURGH — May is recognized as National Electrical Safety Month.

Electrical safety is important year-round, but it’s highlighted during the month of May with a campaign spearheaded by the Electrical Safety Foundation International, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting electrical safety in the home, school and workplace.

The campaign looks to educate key audiences in an effort to reduce the number of electrically-related fires, fatalities, injuries and property loss.

On its website, the ESFI has as wealth of resources, including fact sheets, safety tips, templates and tools, to help facilitate an effective electrical safety awareness campaign for your community, organization, school or family.

In addition, ESFI has launched its fifth installment of its National Electrical Safety Month publication, Electrical Safety Illustrated. This year’s theme is “Understanding the Code that Keeps Us Safe” and it focuses on the importance of the National Electrical Code and its 3-year cycle.
