Save $8 billion using video conferencing instead of traveling

Now isn’t $8 billion just an incredible number to look at!?

“Fly Me to Your Room: Government Video Conferencing Collaboration Report” was released last week by Telework Exchange.  Government travel costs were $15 billion in 2011.  The government projects saving $8 billion in 2012 by using video conferencing technology instead of traveling.

This post isn’t meant to be political in any way.  Rather this post highlights the incredible agility video conferencing technology provides to large and small businesses, organizations and non-profits.  Having the capability to hold the same meetings, with the same people without ever having to leave the office is certainly one of the benefits of video conferencing.

Looking someone in the eyes during any meeting is an invaluable tool for any business man or woman.  Video conferencing gives you this ability along with saving your company or organization a ton of money on travel costs.

If saving $8 billion by using video conferencing isn’t cost-effective than I need to look up the definition of the term again!

Actually, here’s Merriam-Webster’s definition:

Cost-Effective–economical in terms of tangible benefits produced by money spent.

Yes, video conferencing does cost money to install.  That, I’m sure, is an obvious factor for you.

But the ‘tangible benefits’ video conferencing is projected to bring the government is nothing short of astounding.  I mean, think about it, $8 billion is a lot of money.  And that’s only one of the tangible benefits of video conferencing.

To find out more about video conferencing and what kind of tangible benefits such technology could bring to your organization, go to our website and see for yourself!
