Powering the ball on New Year’s Eve? LED Lights

This is some pretty cool stuff!

Everyone has the New Years’ Fever right now considering we’re within a month until the ball drops.  Some interesting history to note: at Times Square, the tradition of the ball dropping on New Years Eve has been an American tradition since 1907.  Fast forward 106 years later, and the ball is being dropped with some of the most innovative technology in the lighting industry.

LED Lights will be powering the beautiful ball this year.  It’s relevant to Technology at Work! because of the infographic I placed below.  Here are some key points:

  1. The ball creates a palette of more than 16 million vibrant colors!

  2. Each LED Light bulb lasts 30,000 hours!

  3. In using LED lights, there will be an 88% reduction in Energy Usage from the ball!

The possibilities are endless when it comes to LED Lights.  Not only are LEDs some of the most innovative technology in the lighting industry, but it’s also a smart economical move for most businesses and organizations looking for a long term solution.
